Mr. Perry,

I know that you have probably heard this a million times, but...I recently found an old video of the Main Street Electrical Parade from Disney World in the 1980's, and as I sat and watched it, the sounds and the music, literally brought tears to my eyes, at all the happy memories I had had at Disney World, and I just wanted to let you know how much something you had done had resonated and touched my heart! Best to you, and I love the new music you have!!

Sincerely,

Will

Just wanted to say that I absolutely love your music. I'm a relatively new fan to your music, after having discovering it on a music blog. I've been in a terrible depression lately, but listening to your music always brings a smile to my face, and a little cheer to my heart. I love how your music and attitude is so light-heartered; we need more of that these days. It's just amazing and wonderful that you're still touring and creating music still to this day! I hope that someday I'll get to see your work in person.

Dear Monsieur Perrey:

Without knowing it I am a fan of yours, it happens to be that your Music has been around my life since many years ago.
Here in Mexico one of your tracks "The elephant never forgets" was used as the main theme for one of the most succesful comedy programs in latin american television history, El chavo del 8, besides that, somewhere I heard a few of other works but I had no Idea of who made them!(I tought theyw were from Carlos, Kazdin or Keysley.
I am glad that you are still creating and recording, as soon as I can get your new CD in Mexique I will buy it.
Keep that joyful way of being of yours foerver, God bless you and receive a big hug from a mexican fan of yours for this Christmas and best wishes for you and your family for this new coming year.

Cher Jean-Jacques Perrey

Bon Jour Jean Jacque. We worked together many years ago at Midlands Arts Centre, here in the UK. I just stopped by to say Hello, and to see whats new with you. I remember your story of how you edited your first version of "Flight of the bumble bee" and to the amusement of the audience, a live bee was spotted in the front of the auditorium, making its way down the steps.....possibly after royalties!!

Keep up the good work.

Hello Jean-Jacques Perrey!

I've been meaning to write for some time in respect of the sounds you have created in your lifetime. Your work and the work of others like Bob Moog, Bruce Haack and Gershon Kingsley has been very influential to me as a musician/knob twiddler and music lover. It's so cool that you have never stopped creating your unique sonic universe, always coming up with tracks that make my brain dance. And the one thing I really admire is that you always look like you're having the time of your life doing it! Take care, and thanks for expanding the possibilities of sound.

40 years ago, I fell in love with your music...and never dreamed I'd actually see you play it, let alone have a chance to meet and talk with you!

Thank you for being so gracious to come to our country to make us smile and feel good again - and thanks to Dana for putting it all together!

Dear Jean Jacques Perrey,

I am very happy now that I have found your site at the Web!
:) My first record ever was Moog Indigo and then Spotlight.
I was 10 years old at that time (1970) and you were one of my hero and made my childhood very very happy with your moog songs!I decided to become a musician and Keyboard player of course! Now I am a profissional musician and a soundtrack composer and use lots of Synths.
I would like to say thank you very much for your great music and for guiding me to become a synth lover!
I live in Brazil and here is very difficult to live doing Instrumental Electronic music, but anyway this is what I love to do.

As I sit by the fire listening to Switched-On-Santa (Sy Mann/Jean-Jacques Perrey), I'm amazed at how good the music is after so many years. The vintage Moog sounds created by Mssr Perrey and others never ages.
I wish Jean-Jacques Perrey and all his fans a Joyeux Noel, and may 2006 be happy and healthy, and filled with rich analog tones for you all!

Mon Dieu....another happy discovery today. I have just found that the theme song to a favourite tv show was also the work of Mssr Perrey! I knew by the sound that the Hilarious House of Frightenstien theme music was vintage Moog, and I suspected it was the work of JJP, but now I know for sure! There seems to be no end to the range and brilliance of your work!
May I add a link from my website to yours?
Encore merci,

Hi Jean!!

I went to DisneyLand once before many years and now, after so long when i heard Baroque Hoedown again for the second time i thought....."that sounds familiar!" :-)

What a classic, unique, humourous and clever piece! The feeling it created has inspired me deeply.

May you be happy and smiling always :)

I am also saddened by the passing of Dr Moog. It is the passing of a brilliant man, and a special era in music. But as long as his amazing instruments exist, and as long as equally-brilliant musicians such as you Jean-Jacques continue to play them, the magic will continue.

Hi:

Do you know that your melody THE ELEPHANT NEVER FORGETS is the OPENING MELODY of THE MOST POPULAR COMEDY in Latin America? This show is called "EL CHAVO DEL 8" (http://www.chavodel8.com/datos/instrumentales.htm), called in English: "The boy of the department # 8" or something like that.

This show has been in the air since 1973!!! Even, nowadays, it´s a great hit in every country that is broadcasted! It has more than 15% rating in each country. It´s from México. It has been doubed into French, Italian, Portouguese, Russian and other Languages.

I was really sourprised. Nobody knows that you are the author of that soooo funny song!

People in all Latin America, of all the societies, loves EL CHAVO... Even we watched each chapter more than 20 times (it's not a joke, because it´s in TV since 1973, and people want to watch more times "El chavo del 8").

THis show was stared by adult actors, even the "characters" were children!

Visit that site and take note about that show that is so famous in Latin America.

Francisco.

p.d. If you live in U.S.A. , you can watch it by UNIVISION CHANNEL. (www.univision.com) You are going to find a lot of web sites of EL CHAVO or CHAPULIN COLORADO in the net.

J'adore votre style !

Hi Mr Perrey and all fellow fans

I discovered this great man's music by accident when I searched the internet last year trying to find out a great tune that was on an advert in Britain in the mid 1990s (which turned out to be E.V.A.).

It was great to finally get hold of the song when I bought "The Out Sound From Way In" CD set. I couldn't believe how old the song is - it sounds like a song from the 1990s - a true sign of the genius of this man.

I was delighted also to discover he made the Disneyland Paris night parade theme - like so many of Mr Perrey's songs, this is a bright, sparkly piece of musical art. Superb!

Thank you Mr Perrey for creating some great music!

Howdy from north Texas, Msr. Perrey!!!

Incredible as it may seem, I have somehow managed to listen to a gigantic amount of electronic music throughout my life without ever running across your name before. Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, etc. I *LOVE* electronic music, old and new; but it wasn't until this year that a friend of mine gave me a cassette tape with a bunch of your music on it. Among the pleasant surprises was the song "18th Century Puppet," I think it was, because it solved a 20-year-old mystery for me!!!! When I was a little kid, Channel 11 in Fort Worth, Texas, used that audio track to help advertise their afternoon TV movie during weekdays. They would play that song in the background, and they played an animated visual that showed frames of 35mm film and the soundtrack stripe dancing in time to the music! I had not heard that piece in 20 years, not knowing who had recorded it or what it was called. Then, upon listening to that audiocassette, it leaped out at me and I was once again only six years old, watching television on Channel 11!!!!!

Can't wait to hear more of your work!!!

HI Jean Jacques...

Finally got my copy of "MOOG INDIGO". It's good but I must admit I am more partial to selections 7 - 12. (I Love bumblebee but I have that on Esential allready. Gossipo Perpetuo cracks me up. That is a hillarious tune. Nice version of hello dolly(I happen to be a Louis fan as well).
EVA Reminds me somewhat of the theme for Futurama (I Guess it's the bells)I Wasn't crazy about EVA at first but it is growing on me the more I play it.
Still lovin' & playin' Essential & Amazing, every tune is excellent. Thank you for creating this music for us odd-balls to enjoy! Daniel.

Hello JJ, Hello Dana, Hello world.

A message to my friend Jean Jacques and to all the viewers of his great website.

Production has started on the JJP DVD which will be completed by the second quarter 2005. This week we have started to shot list over 16 hours of "never before seen" video material, rare photographs and fantastic sounds.

The DVD will feature a specially shot, 3 camera, 60 minute interview and the complete Scotland UK tour (a sneak peak of that is on JJ's website under 'Video') as well as a rare photo slideshow.

In early November Jean-Jacques will be featured in a video interview on the rlmusic.co.uk website (this week an interview with 80's synth pop legend Howard Jones has gone live and you can also view our interview with the great man himself, Bob Moog).

If anyone would like to contribute to the production, or if you have that great unseen photo, video or cine clip lying around at home then send me an email as we want to try and make this the diffinitive JJP video production.

God bless you JJ, love to Patricia

Hi Jean Jacques
Back in 1970 when I was 14 there was a radio show on CBC radio (AM 910)called "ASIGNMENT" and I was crazy for the theme music. I would put the radio on to hear every time it was on (and I taped it on my 3inch reel to reel recorder)It drove me crazy because I did'nt know the title or artist but I wanted to buy the record! One day I was in the record store and going through the 98 cent bin of used records and came across "Kaleidoscopic vibrations" the cover art looked interesting and the big black stamp which said NOT FOR PUBLIC SALE intrigued me more so I bought it. Imagine my delight when I brought it home and played it on the Phillips console stereo and there was that assignment theme.
It turned out to be the SAVERS! I also got to love all the other pieces. The next year I heard "SPOOKS IN SPACE" playing at a Hi-Fi equipment show I went to with my friend and his Dad in quad 4 channel. We both went crazy and looked at the record cover. Another Perrey & Kingsley masterpiece. My friend, David, bought the "IN SOUND FROM WAY OUT" the next day! After that I bought (new) "THE AMAZING NEW ELECTRONIC POP SOUND OF JJP" (loved all the songs but especially Brazillian flower & minuet of the robots) Unfortunatley, my vynil copies have gone by the way side but I have THE ESSENTIAL on CD, which I love and play often. I also recently ordered AMAZING on CD which I was happy for after being told by another store that it was not available. On a recent visit out to see David, he gave me his vynil copy of IN SOUND still in great condition, which I treasure. David has ESSENTIAL on vynil and he still enjoys it as well. One thing I noticed with Essential is allthough being a combo of In sound & Kaleidoscopic, there is one song different. Kaleidoscopic had PIONEER of the stars but Essential has FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLBEE (which is super the way you did it) but I was curious why that was. Could'nt the CD have fit Pioneer as well? They are both great tunes. I may see If I can get Kaleidoscopic on CD even though I have Essential for PIONEER as well I love the cover art. Any way, thankyou for letting me tell my story. I'll have to check out your latest. Untill then...4 3 2 1!

Greetings, Frere Jean-Jacques, and my fellow fanatics. I am Brendan Vox, analog enthusiast and lead synthesist for the electro-rock band Volvox. I wanted to thank you, Mr. Perrey, for your huge influence on my work, especially in your collaborations with Gershon Kingsley. Ever since I bought The In Sound from Way Out! I've been striving to make my ARP Axxe sound like an ondioline, and I've learned to play "Cosmic Ballad", which is possibly my favorite song of yours. I've just recently become a fan of yours, and I haven't yet had the oppurtunity to show your music to the other members of my band. But your influence will at least show up in my synth playing.

Again, thank you, and i look forward to seeing you in the Moog movie next month!

Dear Jean-Jacques

I first discovered Moog Indigo in 1975 and was astounded. For me as a young father and teacher, this was a fantastic entree to use for creative dance and drama, and never failed. I continued to use your music (some with Kingsley)and Tomita's too, beautifully expressive, lyrical stuff, taking it back into schools in England. Surprisingly, in this drama-dance context, I frequently played the music quite deliberately at half-speed, which produced amazing results from my classes, eg EVA or Flight of the Bumblebee. Then for some years, before the internet, and finding no more examples of your work, I was convinced you had gone for good! Not so! Here you are still, even lecturing recently in Scotland with Moog himself. I totally agree with you, music and art and creativity are for the world, it is a global language. This is my first opportunity to express my deepest thanks to you for the music you have created. In many ways you remind me of other great French men like Marceau and Grapelli, whose lives are sans frontieres. Today, living in Australia, I listened to the BBC Radio 4 broadcast via the internet, and the whole story of the ondiline and the people connected with it brought that first encounter back to life. Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to meet you personally. Kindest regards, Trefor Roberts - tre4@optusnet.com.au

Hey Mr Perrey,
I'm a great fan of your music since age 15, now 10 years later still enjoying your happy-works. I'm glad that other people like Chazam and Vibert are workeing toghether with you. I read on a website from Wagon Christ (= Luke Vibert) that there is coming a new album out soon with him and you together. That must be amazing.
Also nice for you to maybe check out sometime are: Messer Chups/Messer Fur Frau Muller (a russian/german band), Tipsy (from the USA), Bruce Haack!, Emil Richards "stones" (very freaky moog music) and Mouse on Mars (Koln/germany).
But you probably know all these names already, but anyway BIG greatings from (me) Dirk Bijdendijk (from the Netherlands/Amsterdam). I'm looking forward to all your new work and of course the book Dana Countryman is working on! Cheers! from: dirkbij@yahoo.com

For Jean-Jacques...

I have been in e-mail contact with Dana Countryman and decided to post to this message board. I have enjoyed your music for some 35 years now, maybe more! Even my children like it.

I wanted you to know that I read with devout interest the liner notes in the "Circus of Life", specifically the story of the "Girl from Mill Valley" and the +Jardin Extrordinaire+. It was a wonderful story which I understood completely.

We share a love for your music, and we share interests in that which is above and which is below.

May you always see the world through ROSE colored glassses and may no harm ever CROSS your path.

Continue to play!

Until another time...

Hello Jean Jacques!
Greetings from Israel!
I first heard your music ten years ago when I was 18, and it really influenced me because at the time I was writing modern classical music and it was always too morbid and serious for me, and discovering your records with kingsley was a great change. Since then I have gone to make electronic music and I've already released a few albums, which always have influences from your music.
I would really love to let you hear them!
Thank you for all the great music and good luck with the site!

Thank you so much for a captivating evening last night at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. It was fascinating to observe your tape-splicing techniques and the beautiful dancing elephant.

Perhaps you should get a new translator, though?

Hi JJP & Dana! Nice to see a wonderful site dedicated to such a fantastic and far out and ahead of his time musician: Jean Jacques! I host a program at the University of Winnipeg's campus/community radio station - CKUW 95.9 FM in Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - the longitudinal center of North America with the largest French-speaking population west of Quebec! U can access our radio station website at www.ckuw.ca

I have a show at CKUW called (Scratching the) Surface Noise where I play a hitherto unheard dangerous cocktail mix of crazy rock'n'roll and weirdo strange inside/out-is-it
music(?) for 6 hours every Sunday nite/Monday morning beginning at midnite CST til 6 am CST. As of this posting I have done dee dee done done 252 broadcasts - 1512 hours on air! I've ended every single one of these broadcasts with this trio'o trippy tunes: Trashmen - "Surfin' Bird", Angry Samoans - "Lights Out" and finally "UFO" from the very very very amazing THE IN SOUND FROM WAY OUT LP. I never tire of this record and I want to say thank you for creating such an incredible masterpiece of science fictional music reality! Thanks Jean Jacques Perrey! - DJ Vom
