I'm happy to present my latest Moog album, "The Playful Moog"! It was a fun album to write and record. When I decided to do a follow-up album to my previous "The Whimsical Moog", I didn't have any tunes written yet. Magically, one-by-one, 12 tunes popped into my head, and although I had no real deadline, it was a steady and fruitful process of creativity. I credit God for providing me with this gift. This album was written and recorded between the months of January-March, 2026. My entire life has been dedicated to making music, and to making people smile with it. It’s been an honor for me to compose uplifting music, and that was the goal with creating this album of happy-go-lucky, silly synthesizer music. Over my lifetime, I've been involved mostly with VOCAL pop - and I've been writing songs and melodies since I was 16 years old. But this is my fifth album of instrumental Moog music, another love of mine. Now, here I am at age 71, still cranking out new music! Who knows how many years God will grant me the years to keep living, but I hope toleave behind happy, cheerful music. Will anyone remember me, when I'm gone? Who knows? This is how I do my part to counteract all the negative information in the news, people's confused lives, etc. Electronic instruments used on this album include a Moog-style modular synthesizer, designed by Roger Arrick, the very rare antique French tube synthesizer The Ondioline, and the even rarer Martoline, (which I invented, so there is actually only ONE in existence.) I hope that you get a kick out this album, and that it truly does brings you a few moments of happiness. it is not designed to compete with anything else, going on musically in the world today. In fact, I may actually be the ONLY one, still writing this kind of light-hearted instrumental music. My musical heroes are talented folks from the past including my mentor, Jean Jacques Perrey, Leroy Anderson, and all the Space Age Bachelor Pop guys like Raymond Scott. Esquivel, Dick Hyman, and others. I don't try to copy them, but I have definitely been influenced by them. In fact, one of the tunes "Frenesie de Jean Jacques" was written as a tribute to my dearly departed best friend and musical genius, Jean Jacques Perrey. I had to do it! In this crazy, angry world, where almost everything on the news is negative, we need at least a few moments of happiness, don’t you think? Dana Countryman reach me at: dana@danacountryman.com
